ACT:ACT man nabbed drink driving twice in hours

CANBERRA, April 27 AAP - A 41-year-old man has been caught drink driving twice in less
than three hours, Canberra police say.

The driver first recorded a positive breath test at 7.45pm (AEST) on Saturday.

His reading was 0.186, nearly four times above the 0.05 limit, and his driver's licence
was immediately suspended.

Just hours later, at 10.15pm, police spotted the driver in the same car and arrested him.

He recorded a second alcohol reading of 0.174 and he was subsequently arrested for
driving with a suspended licence.

Superintendent Mick Calatzis said he was astounded that the man tried to drive his
car a second time.

"We are doing our part but drink driving will not stop until the community, as a whole,
decides that this is a completely unacceptable practice," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The man is scheduled to appear before ACT Magistrates Court on May 5.

Nine Entertainment Utilizes Blue Coat Secure Web Gateway Solution
Type: News

Blue Coat Systems, Inc., a provider of Web security and WAN optimization solutions, announced that Nine Entertainment Co. (formerly PBL Media), a media and entertainment group, has deployed Blue Coat ProxySG appliances with Blue Coat WebFilter to improve employee productivity and Web security for more than 4,500 employees while reducing management costs and help desk requests.

"The flexibility of the Blue Coat solution makes it easier for us to give each employee access to the Web content and applications they need to be effective and eliminates the need for IT to be a traffic cop, allowing us instead to define policies from a business perspective," said Garry Clarke, IT systems manager for Nine Entertainment Co. "By enabling us to delegate administration to our internal help desk and immediately enforce any policy changes, the Blue Coat solution has also decreased the administrative workload on our senior engineers from around four hours per week to zero."
According to a release, employees at Nine Entertainment Co. rely on the Internet to perform their job, so a Web security solution that doesn't impact performance is critical to employee productivity. The Blue Coat Secure Web Gateway solution delivers flexibility through granular access controls that enable Nine Entertainment Co. to allow acceptable content and applications while avoiding decreased productivity and user dissatisfaction associated with overblocking Internet content.

Nine Entertainment Co. is also protecting its users from Web- based malware with Blue Coat WebFilter and the Blue Coat WebPulse service, a collaborative cloud-based defense that analyzes and categorizes unknown content and links.

Nine Entertainment Co. also deployed Blue Coat Director and Reporter to centrally manage and report on the company's 30 sites across Australia, Asia and New Zealand. With Director, Nine Entertainment Co. can maintain policy control, roll out configuration and policy changes, and audit and report from a central location, resulting in consistent and continuous policy enforcement across the company.

"Blue Coat understands how to deliver security without compromising performance and also provides organizations with the flexibility to enforce more precise and granular policies," said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president at Blue Coat Systems. "With the Blue Coat Secure Web Gateway solution, Nine Entertainment Co. can safely use the Web and has reduced its help desk calls and management costs, enabling the IT team to focus on strategic business projects rather than daily administrative tasks."

"Go out and ask the seniors groups. Go out and ask them who they think is most likely

Fed: Police called in to find flu plane passengers

BRISBANE, April 30 AAP - Police have been asked to help track down two Queensland passengers
who were on a flight with New Zealand school children diagnosed with swine flu.

Seven Queenslanders were on board the Air New Zealand flight which arrived in Brisbane
on Saturday.

So far five have been identified and cleared of having swine flu.

Health authorities said on Thursday police were seeking the remaining two.

Queensland authorities have tested 21 people for swine flu, but to date there have
been no confirmed cases.

Thermal scanners were in place but not active at the Brisbane, Gold Coast and Cairns
international airports on Thursday, to check passengers for fever as they disembark.

Airport checks were stepped up overnight as the World Health Organisation raised its
flu alert level to phase five out of six, signalling that a pandemic was "imminent".

NSW: Bus drivers threaten strikes over 'spy cameras'

EDS: Changing sixth par to make clear mananagement, not the union, are using the cameras

By Caroline Berdon

SYDNEY, Dec 28 AAP - Angry NSW bus drivers have threatened industrial action unless
the State Transport Authority (STA) removes cameras they say have been installed to "spy"

on them.

The Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) says management is using images from the six to
nine cameras mounted on each State Transit Bus to question drivers' rather than ensure
the safety of drivers and passengers.

The union is calling on the state government to remove the one camera on each bus that
is directed at the driver.

"These video cameras put a tremendous pressure (on drivers) with very little benefit,"

RTBU spokesman Raul Baonza told AAP.

"We have a new management team at the moment which is using these cameras to investigate
absolutely every trivial comment (from passengers)."

Mr Baonza said management was using the "spy cameras" to discipline drivers when they
pull out of bus lanes or have to stop suddenly.

He said bus drivers were "extremely angry" about being spied on and many were leaving
the job as a result.

"We've lost three quarters of the new trainees in the last twelve months. Of 400 new
bus drivers, 300 are gone.

"We have no doubt (the cameras) are a big part... There would be no other job where
you would be supervised 24-7 by a camera."

Bus drivers will consider striking early next year if the STA refuses to budge on the
issue, said Mr Baonza.

But he said he hoped it wouldn't come to that.

"We're basically going through the settlement procedure to try to resolve it before
we have to resort to industrial action."

Acting Premier Carmel Tebbutt said the cameras were not intended to review bus driver
performance.

"CCTV cameras have been used in buses for over 10 years. There's been new digital cameras
installed in the last 18 months," Ms Tebbutt told reporters in Sydney on Sunday.

"The government's policy is very clear. This is not about monitoring the performance
of bus drivers, this is about making our buses safer for passengers and for bus drivers.

"The police find this footage very useful when they are resolving incidents that have
occurred on buses," she said.

But a spokeswoman for Transport Minister David Campbell said there were no plans to
remove cameras from buses.

"Many drivers really like them," she told AAP. "As do passengers...it makes them feel safe.

"We won't be removing any cameras at this point."
