Police received a call at 5:52 p.m. on March 31 that a largegroup of male teens had gathered in the area of Park Street atShoreline Drive and a fight broke out. More than one officer went tothe area, but when the first officer arrived, someone flagged himdown and told him a group of males had gotten into a vehicle and hada gun.
The officer found one adult and one juvenile in the car in theparking lot of Alameda Towne Centre. Both had guns. The officernoted that at least one of the guns had a partially filed-off serialnumber on it. The two were taken into custody.
TUESDAY, MARCH 29
ROBBERY -- A woman reported that two suspects she met in agrocery store used weapons to force her to drive her car to a bankin the 2400 block of Santa Clara Avenue to withdraw money. She saidshe did not know the suspects.
BURGLARY ATTEMPT -- A resident in the 3100 block of FernsideBoulevard reported that someone attempted to enter through a reardoor of the home at about 6 p.m. but fled when the resident went tosee who was there.
BURGLARY -- A resident in the 3100 block of Fernside Boulevardreported finding a window broken and items missing. The missingitems weren't included in the press police log.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30
CHILD ENDANGERMENT -- A woman was arrested on suspicion of childcruelty and child endangerment at a residence at Lincoln Avenue andSherman Street. The suspect was a friend of the mother of twochildren, ages 23 months and 7 years, who came to watch the childrenwhen the mother called to tell her the regular day care person wasrunning late. The mother had an appointment and left after thefriend arrived. When she returned, she saw the 23-month-old childoutside in front of the house with someone. The friend was spendingtime with the older child and did not know the younger one had leftthe house.
MAIL THEFT -- A resident in the 1700 block of Cornell Drivereported mail had been stolen from the mailbox.
FRIDAY, APRIL 1
BATTERY -- A man was punched in the face after he accidentallyspilled coffee on another man at Trader Joe's at Alameda TowneCentre. At about 11:30 a.m. the victim was bumped by anothercustomer, causing the coffee to spill. The man on whom the coffeespilled got upset and didn't feel the apology he received from thevictim was sincere because he remained in a conversation on a cellphone while he apologized. The victim reported the man hit him inthe head with his closed fist. They ended up tussling on the floor.The victim was treated by firefighters with an ice pack for a bumpon his forehead. He made a citizen's arrest against the man who hithim.
LEWD ACTS -- A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of lewdacts with a juvenile he met on a social network via the Internet.The victim came to the police department and reported incidents thatoccurred in Alameda and Oakland where the suspect and victim met ondifferent occasions over a period of time. The victim said he didn'treport the incidents in the beginning because the suspect threatenedto divulge their encounters to other people.
